Geology instructor Darla Hennessy's dreams are shattered when her longtime boyfriend dumps her to marry someone else. On the rebound, she lets a friend drag her to a party where she meets former teen idol Eric Boyd, a Scottish rocker.
Eric has one goal: return to the industry as a legitimate musician and earn the respect of his peers. But his manager is missing, someone is murdering his former band mates, and he might be next on the killer's list. The last thing he needs is a relationship.
Despite their growing chemistry, Darla is wary of getting involved too. But when the killer attacks Eric, she can't turn her back. On the run, they have to stay one step ahead of a madman even as their attraction heats up.
It may be love, but can they survive long enough to find out?
This story is not the usual rock-star romance. It takes the reader on a journey into the world of rock music with the added intrigue of murder. The plot flows smoothly with main characters that are engaging and likable. The sizzling chemistry between Eric and Darla is in direct opposition to their lukewarm almost take-it-or-leave-it relationship, which takes place for over half the book.
However, the reader will find the sexy hero with his casual sexual attitude a good compliment for the relationship-shy, intellectual heroine. This well-written suspense keeps the pace going with twists and turns that will keep readers of mystery turning the pages to discover the identity of the killer, while the sexual tension, sizzling chemistry, and steamy romance satisfies readers of romance. Together they combine to make this book a thoroughly enjoyable read!

This book is kinda dark and cold, but so good! The writing is excellent! I was instantly drawn into Darla and Eric's journey. I loved the complexity of all the characters, and the various situations they faced. The complications the band members encountered, the heroin's best friend, who pushed and pulled her out of the funk, and into the hero's arms.
The friendship dynamics were very relateable. We all need a best friend like Stephanie. I loved the sense of adventure and danger, at any moment something could happen. Darla"s father was also a hero. He saved Eric's life, and then grilled him once he was better. Loved it! Strong father figures are rarely included in romance novels.
I was nearly in tears when Eric gave Darla his speech. He was so sweet and heartfelt. You could just see how much he changed and grew from the beginning to end. What a transformation!
This is not your average romance novel, this is way better! If you are a fan of Scarlett Cole's, The Strongest Steel you will enjoy this suspenseful read. I'm hoping for a sequel, maybe Stephanie and Blaine's story? I'd also love a to know what's happened with Eric and Darla.
